Jimmy Page calls singles ‘soul destroying’

NEW YORK (AP) — Jimmy Page would have loved to stick with The Yardbirds, if only they didn’t have to deal with singles.

Page says The Yardbirds were starting to do innovative things when they broke up. He says it was “soul destroying” to do “silly songs” for a single and have their creative songs stuck on the B-side. That all changed with Led Zeppelin.

Page says that was a guitar-based band because that’s what he wanted it to be. The first three Led Zeppelin albums have been re-mastered and include bonus material. They are out this week.
