‘Iron Man 3′ year’s biggest money-maker

“Iron Man 3″ has been crowned the highest-grossing film of 2013 after raking in $1.2 billion at the global box office.

Robert Downey, Jr.’s latest outing as Tony Stark and his superhero alter-ego easily trumped “Despicable Me 2,” which claimed second place with $918.4 million.

“Fast & Furious 6″ raced into third with a $788.7 million haul, while “Monsters University” ($743.6 million) and T”he Hunger Games: Catching Fire” ($738.3 million), which was only released last month, placed at four and five, respectively.

Others featured in the end-of-year top 10 countdown include “Gravity,” “Thor: The Dark World” and “World War Z.”
