Unknown chemical spills at Cortlandville lab

Emergency crews spent much of the day Tuesday cleaning up a chemical spill at a lab in Cortlandville.

Crews responded to the Buck Environmental Labs location on Buck Drive around 2:30 Tuesday.

Six people inside the lab were able to get out and report the spill. All six went through decontamination, and were taken by ambulance to Cortland Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Crews needed about six hours to make sure the scene was safe, and requested help from hazmat teams from Cortland and Tompkins counties.

There’s no word on what the chemical was that reportedly spilled.
