CORRECTION: An earlier version of the story identified Eric Wayman as the co-pilot. Mr. Wayman has informed WHCU News that he was a passenger on the plane.

The FAA is investigating a plane crash that happened Friday afternoon at the Cortland County Airport, injuring two people.

The county sheriff’s department got a call around noon about a plane that went down short of the runway there.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department, an investigation determined that the pilot, 51-year-old Timothy Coughlin, of Manlius, and a passenger, 36-year-old Eric Wayman of Las Vegas, Nevada, crashed during an emergency landing when they realized there was little or no power coming from the engine.

Authorities say the plane was a 1948 Beechcraft Bonanza B-35a. They say the men suffered minor injuries. Both were treated by TLC ambulance crews at the scene.

According to authorities, the emergency landing caused “damage to the airplane and the airport grounds.”
