150 years of service to the Tompkins County community will be celebrated this weekend by the Public Library.

Library Director Susan Currie says a gathering Saturday at noon will officially kick off the celebration with special guests to deliver statements and proclamations.

Those names include Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick, local State Senator Tom O’Mara and New York State Librarian Bernard Margolis.

As part of the celebration there will be three art exhibits, with one displaying cards made by people about their experiences in the library and cards made by staff commemorating events in the history of the library.

The celebration at 101 East Green Street in downtown Ithaca runs through Sunday.
