A New Jersey man is accused of fleeing from state police, who were trying to stop him for speeding Wednesday on I-81 in Cortlandville.

24-year-old Jesus Izquierdo allegedly stepped on the gas and headed north, hitting speeds just over 100 mph, while “recklessly passing several other vehicles in both lanes,” according to police.

Police say Izquierdo eventually pulled over about 20 miles up the road in Tully. They say the chase lasted less than 15 minutes.

Police now say that Izquierdo was under the influence of drugs while driving. They say he was in possession of a small amount of pot, along with oxycodone pills.

He faces drug possession charges, along with charges related to the police pursuit.
