A 20-year-old Ithaca man is accused of breaking into a home Saturday night, but police say they needed about 30 minutes to catch him.

Police say Ezra Broadwell broke into a home in the 400 block of North Cayuga Street around 11 p.m.

A resident was home at the time, and interrupted Broadwell as he was trying to steal multiple items from the home. Police say the suspect threw a bottle at the man, and ran from the scene.

About 30 minutes later, police got a call about a man who was passed out inside of a car, about a block away, on the 100 block of Sears Street.

Police have not said why Broadwell was passed out. He was identified by the victim of the break-in. Broadwell has now been charged with burglary.
