Police investigating fatal fire in Enfield

State Police are investigating a fatal trailer fire that happened in Enfield Friday morning.

Fire crews from the Enfield Fire Department responded to the blaze on Porter Hill Road around 9:30 a.m. Friday, Fire Chief Roger Lauper confirmed.

After putting out the flames, crews discovered a dead body inside the charred camper.

State police were assisted at the scene by Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies.

The identity of the victim has not been released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
