Congressman Reed holds closed, roundtable discussion on sexual assault

Area Congressman Tom Reed held a closed, roundtable discussion Tuesday on sexual assault

The event was held at Ithaca College and included representatives from the region’s colleges and advocacy groups.

Alexis Santi, founder of Cornell’s chapter of the group Men Against Sexual Violence (MASV), said more men’s groups need to intervene and raise awareness about how to prevent sexual violence.

“The congressman was extremely receptive,” Santi said. “He obviously has been deeply impacted by this issue.”

Tuesday’s discussion centered around how local organizations can partner to raise awareness about sexual assault.
