STEVE MARTIN – FIRST TIME DAD The New York Post broke the news yesterday that Steve Martin became a first time dad at the age of 67. According to the paper, Martin and his wife Anne Stringfield, 41, welcomed the baby in December. (The couple later confirmed the news to People magazine.) So far there’s no word on the sex or name of the child. Martin and Stringfield had been dating three years before they tied the knot in 2007.
SHATNER CALLS ABRAMS A PIG William Shatner doesn’t think it’s right that Star Trek director J.J. Abrams has signed on to direct the new Star Wars film. “No, he’s being a pig,” Shatner told Movie Fanatic. “He’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He’s probably the most talented director…but he’s gone too far this time.” Of course Shatner and Abrams have always had a somewhat contentious relationship. Shatner was particularly upset that he didn’t get a role in Abrams’ first Star Trek film.
SOBER BRUCE WILLIS STILL ENJOYS WINE 57-year-old Bruce Willis has been sober since the 80′s but he revealed to GQ that he still allows himself to drink wine. The Die Hard actor appears on the cover of the March issue where he explains his choice to start drinking again despite admitting that he cannot trust himself around alcohol. Bruce told the magazine, “I had been sober. But once I realized that I wasn’t gonna run myself off the pier of life with alcohol, drinking vodka out of the bottle every day . . . I have wine now, mostly when I eat.”
