Check out the Rock & Roll Hall Nominees for 2014

Nirvana, Kiss and Hall & Oates lead the list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2014, according to Rolling Stone. The group of potential inductees announced on Tuesday night (October 15th) also includes the Replacements, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, N.W.A., Link Wray, the Meters, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies. Those artists who collect the most votes will be inducted in April at a ceremony in New York City.

  • For the second consecutive year, members of the public are invited to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders that make up the Hall of Fame’s voting body.
  • Fans can vote until December 10th at RollingStone.com, with the top five acts compiled from those votes onto a “fan’s ballot” that will count as one of the more than 600 total ballots turned in.
  • This year marks the first appearance of Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies on the ballot. Nirvana is the only act this year to land on the ballot in its first year of eligibility.
  • Kiss was previously nominated in 2010, while Deep Purple got their first chance last year. Both are seen as glaring hard rock omissions equal to that of Rush, who were finally inducted with the class of 2013 after years of fan outcries.
  • Still missing from the ballot are other notable acts like Cheap Trick, Todd Rundgren, Duran Duran, Electric Light Orchestra, Roxy Music, Boston, the Monkees, Joe Cocker, Bon Jovi, Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago, Pat Benatar, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Humble Pie, T.Rex, Styx, Free, Billy Idol, Chubby Checker, the Guess Who, Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy, Joe Walsh, the MC5, the Moody Blues, Mountain, Blue Oyster Cult, Jethro Tull, Foreigner, Bad Company and many more.
